Occupy Wall Street takes over the Brooklyn Bridge! Oct 1st, 2011.

El Sábado 1 de Octubre, Wall Street Ocupado marchó desde el campamento hasta el puente de Brooklyn.  Aproximadamente unas 1500 personas marcharon hacia el puente, algunos comenzaron a entrar al carril peatonal cuando un grupo decidió tomar la vía de automóviles, la policía tuvo que hacerse a un lado mientras más y más personas saltaban de la zona peatonal a la carretera. La gente aplaudía y gritaba en apoyo a lxs que tomaron la vía principal del puente. Por unos minutos la policía dejó abierto un carril de automóviles y la marcha iba al lado de los carros pero no pasó mucho tiempo cuando la gente tomó todos los carriles. El puente de Brooklyn estaba bloqueado totalmente.

Acciones como estas no habían pasado en la ciudad de Nueva York desde hace muchos años. A gritos de: -De quién es este puente?, Nuestro puente!-, -De quién son estas calles?, Nuestras calles!- la gente se abrazaba y saltaba, los automóviles que pasaban en el carril del otro lado del puente (de Brooklyn a Manhattan) sonaban las bocinas, alzaban los puños y gritaban en solidaridad a la marcha.
A la mitad del puente, la policía empezó a detener personas para impedir que la marcha siguiera su rumbo, trataron de que la marcha se replegara pero esta no se movió. Algunas personas comenzaron a sentarse en el pavimento y la policía continuo forcejeando con las personas que se encontraban en la parte de enfrente.
Comenzamos a escuchar que la parte de atrás del puente ya se encontraba cerrado por la policía y que nos tenían acorraladxs. Algunos comenzaron a escalar el puente para llegar a la zona peatonal y evitar ser arrestadxs y otros pocos pudieron salir por la parte trasera.
Al final aproximadamente 700 personas fueron arrestadas. Ya todxs se encuentran fuera.

On Saturday October 1st, Occupy Wall Street marched from their encampment to the Brooklyn Bridge. Approximately 1500 people marched to the bridge, some began to enter the pedestrian lane when a group decided to take the road, the police had to step aside as more and more people jumped from the pedestrian side to the road. People clapped and shouted in support of those who took the main road. For some minutes the police left one lane open and the protest was running alongside the cars, but it didn't take long before people started taking all the lanes. The Brooklyn Bridge was blocked completely.
An action like this hasn't happened in the city of New York for many years. 
A cry of: 'Whose bridge?, Our bridge! -,-Whose streets?, Our streets! - People were hugging and jumping, the passing cars in the lane across the bridge (Brooklyn to Manhattan) honked, raised fists and shouted in solidarity with the march.
In the middle of the bridge, police began arresting people to prevent the march to continue its course, tried to push the demo back that up but they did not move. Some people started to sit on the pavement and continued struggling with police who were in the front.
We began to hear that the back of the bridge and was closed by the police, we had been corralled. Some began to climb the bridge to the pedestrian zone to avoid being arrested and a few others made ​​it out from the back.
About 700 people were arrested. They are all out now.
